Producer Jerry Bruckheimer & Director Jon Turteltaub will have their hands full trying to satisfy huge expectations for
The Sorcerer's Apprentice, due to the success of the previous Disney Movie series The Pirates Of the Caribbean. The of Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel should help but from what has been seen so far the plot seems a bit childish... The Movie is based at it's core on a classic
The Sorcerer's Apprentice segment in Disney's
Fantasia which itself was based upon symphonic poem by Paul Dukas.
Below you can get your first peek at Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel who play the sorcerer Balthazar Blake and the innocent apprentice:
Here are some of things Nicolas Cage shared with us about his upcoming movie :

"The take is that it's going to entertain you, that sorcerer is good, but there is going to be moments where he's a little mysterious and just a little perhaps scary to look at. There's going to be a lot of fantasy and there's going to be some amazing FX."
Actor Nicolas Cage
Plot:
"An American college student (Baruchel) who suddenly finds himself employed by a modernday sorcerer (Cage), is introduced to a whole new world of trouble and fantasy....And as usual the forces of evil reveal themselves and everything turns to chaos...all of this while the young and inexperienced Apprentice is still trying to understand what is going on in this new Manhattan.
Movie Cast:
- Nicolas Cage plays a sorcerer named Balthazar Blake(did you see his hair!!).
- Jay Baruchel plays the college student who suddenly finds himself the sorcerer's apprentice.
- Teresa Palmer plays the girl that the apprentice falls in love with.
- Alfred Molina is the yin to the yang he is evil and he is Horvath.
- Toby Kebbell is named Drake Stone, and becomes Horvath's right hand.
- Monica Bellucci is the sorceress Veronica, who is reunited with her love Balthazar Blake for good or bad...
Last were that Director Jon Tuteltaub and Nicolas Cage were postponing National Treasure 3 to put more time and effort into the Sorcerer's Apprentice, so it would seem that they really need a lot more work to polish this little jewel of a movie...it will be up to us all to judge their efforts. :)
